THANKS-LIVING

This week, many Americans will enjoy Thanksgiving Day. What if every day could be like Thanksgiving Day? It can if we practice "thanks-living." In the message, THANKS-LIVING, Pastor Paul Coleman presents three things found in Colossians 3:17 that we must have to practice "thanks-living."

Hallelujah Festival Highlights

Mayo, FL - Yesterday, members of HBBC participated in the "Hallelujah Festival," hosted by Airline Baptist Church. HBBC was one of many area churches that participated in the event. HBBC had a "Trunk or Treat" spot in the event and a face painting booth. Earlier this week, adults and youth at HBBC made candied apples, signs, and other preparations for the event. At the event, our members distributed hundreds of church flyers and Gospel tracts, operated the face painting booth and helped with the play. An important part of the event was the "Judgment House" play. Over two hundred people saw the play. 38 people made professions of faith in Jesus Christ. Many thanks to all of the people who helped with the event and to Airline Baptist Church for hosting the event and inviting us to participate. It is an honor to work together with churches from this area to minister to our community.

Dr. Rick Sheppard, representing the Florida Baptist Convention, presented Mrs. Vogel with an award, recognizing our association for having the highest percentage of church participation in Vacation Bible School in the state of Florida. Dr. Darel Mitchell, Director of Missions for the Lafayette Baptist Association, also presented Mrs. Vogel with a plague, recognizing her work in the association.

On the second night of the meeting, October 13, our pastor, who serves as the Director of Evangelism for the association, gave the evangelism report, recognizing five churches in our association in which God gave great numbers or increases of baptisms. "The 3 'E's"

There are certain courses which are considered absolutely necessary for a good education: reading, writing and arithmetic. These subjects are often called "The 3 'R's," even though two of them do not begin with the letter 'R.' Likewise, there are three essentials for the Christian life: "The 3 'E's." In this 4-week course, Pastor Paul Coleman explains these essentials and how the church can help.

In this course we will discuss topics, such as:
  • How to know you have eternal life
  • How to do personal devotions
  • How to use your unique gifts to serve God
  • How to make the most of your church experience
  • How to share your faith with others

Whether you are a new believer, new to the church, or desire to grow in your faith - this course is for you. The course will be offered four times per year. The Fall and Winter class schedules are listed below. All materials are free. Childcare is provided by the church. Contact us at hbbc@windstream.net to sign up for the course.

Weekend Wrap-up, September 12 & 13

This weekend we had two big events at HBBC:

Back to School Bash: Saturday we had 33 children and 31 adults present for our first Back to School Bash. We had several carnival games, food, a concession stand, a train ride and a Bible story. Many thanks to our Children's Ministry and the many volunteers who worked hard to make it possible.

Homecoming: Sunday we had our annual Homecoming Service. The sanctuary was packed, with people sitting in the overflow areas. It was our largest attendance in over a year. Seven groups/individuals sang gospel music during the service. Two people were baptized. Dr. E.V. Coons delivered an inspirational message. Everyone enjoyed lots of good food during the lunch, following the worship service. Many thanks to the Homecoming Committee, Social Committee, Deacons, Building and Grounds Committee, volunteers, singers and Dr. E.V. Coons for all of their hard work.

Praise God for what He is doing at HBBC!
